'The sexist discourse which operates in the X Files is both more implicit and tangential to that found in classic science fiction films such as The Thing or Invaders from Mars. Through central character Agent Scully, the X Files tv series reflects the contemporary shift in traditional gender roles which has enabled more women to become scientific experts.
