SYLVIA PLATH

SYLVIA PLATH AND ME

Up until about five years ago, the idea of having to read or write poetry filled me with dread.

Mostly I found it boring or difficult or uninspiring.

Then in my final year of high school one of my teachers pointed me towards Sylvia Plath,

And I totally fell in love with her writing,

Which is sharp and funny and dark at the same time.

Like Margaret Atwood, sometimes you can read a single line in a poem of hers and feel as though

You've just heard your entire life repeated back to you/

If you haven't read any Sylvia Plath stuff before, you're in for a treat.

Below are a number of my favourite poems of hers.

I will add more to this list often

I hope you enjoy them.
